Currently | On My Bedside.

on my bedside
A girls bedside table has everything that she needs. You can always find the most important items in glasses, bowls and sometimes stacked high. After another re-shuffle I thought I would share what is currently at my own bedside, along with some favourites and recommendations!

1. Something to make you smile.

I find that after a long day I take my makeup off, lay on my bed and relax. It's the little things that make a difference and so I always keep something positive close by to remind me that everything is going to be alright. It's also a great way to motivate you to in the morning. You could keep a special greetings card, a gift, a memento or in my case a note from a loved one. I've been the boys other half for almost two years now, this is a note that he left in my bedroom when we first got together. It never fails to make me smile, on one side of my bed I have his words on the other I have him.

2. Something to get it all out of your face.

Do you ever feel like your hair is just everywhere. When I'm trying to work, or clean or do anything that requires effort I have to put my hair up. Not necessarily all up but al least clip the font away. My hair is long and all one length so you can imagine how frustrating it is to have bits clinging to eyelashes or lipgloss. For those moments I always have a couple of clips laying around. I bought a pack of 10 from Primark for around £2.50 with both black and white clips. You could use a small bowl or dish to keep bobby pins or hairbands. It's not only great for those frustrating moments but a great way to keep them all in one place. I cant begin to tell you how many I've lost from taking them all out in my sleep and just aiming for the bedside table.

3. Lip balm, of course.

I remember a time when I only used lip balm when I needed it. And then I realised that maintaining your lips means that you'll never need it. All year round you can have gorgeously smooth lips, just by applying a thick layer before bed and when you wake. One of my night time favourites is the NUXE Reve de Miel, it's thick and matte enough for an entire nights sleep. It's so effective that it's been tested in conditions of extreme Canadian cold. In the morning I prefer something with perks. The Clinique Chubby Stick Lip Colour Balms are great for a smooth finish and a pop of colour. I have a sample size of 07 Super Strawberry, as soon as this is finished I'll be running to a counter to take a look at other shades. Another favourite is The Body Shop Born Lippy Lip Balms, they have a glossier finish and smell amazing. I can always count on the scent of Pink Guava to perk me up in the morning.

4. Something to add some jazz.

I'm not the biggest jewellery fan. I hate it when my skin turns green from constant wear and I hate the jingling even more. I like to be comfortable. So when I have a few rings or bracelets that take my fancy I like to keep them close. I have a selection to grab when I need them which is mostly adding something to a plain tee and jeans. Like the hair pins I prefer to keep them together. Again It's easier than flinging out your arm and hoping it lands.

5. Something to keep the time.

To this day I have never found an alarm clock that I like. (If you have any suggestions please let me know) Some are too big, others too loud, the whole idea of finding one stresses me out. So I've opted for something a little simpler. I have a plain classic Casio watch that I wear every day, it has an alarm set for 7:00 that I follow religiously. Even on days off. When I get into bed I take it off then when It's time to get up I put it on. That way I will always be sure to know the time. The amount of times I have relied on my phone to wake me and I've been hours late. Never trust something that can go out of fashion. The watch itself is great! It has a built in timer, it's water resistant and looks cute with tones of outfits. It's a classic staple, so even if I find the perfect alarm clock I will always have this on my bedside.

6. Something to freshen the room.

Candles and room sprays are a great way to freshen up an area. I always keep my favourite scent close by. Not only does it relax me, but it's always nice when someone walks past my room and comments on how lovely it smells. My year long favourite has been the Diptyque Mimosa Room Spray. You can use it on curtains, bed sheets and around the room itself. I have left for a few days and been able to smell it when I get back. Now that's amazing! For candle options I am a massive fan of Waitrose Candles. They may not be as luxurious, but they have a great selection of scents and sizes all at a reasonable price. The scents themselves change depending on the time of year, perfect for someone that burns quite frequently. I would definitely recommend the 3 wick Lily of the Valley candle during these warmer months.

What do you keep on your bedside? Do you have any of your own tips?
