My Makeup Storage.

Makeup Storage. c1

A few weeks ago me and the boy took a trip to Ikea, needless to say I came home with the Alex draws. I always enjoy the little insights into peoples homes, maybe it's just because I'm nosey but I thought that it would be nice to share a little bit of my bedroom with you. This is the new home to my makeup and nail polish with a few current favourites thrown in for good measure.

The Alex draws come in a variety of set ups, of course Ikea has a style for all of your needs. This is the smaller model with two small draws and three deeper ones. I also bought a couple of white cutlery trays so that I could organise my makeup in products. The first draw is home to my brushes, lip products, cream eye shadows, pigments, eyeliners, mascaras and my daily makeup. My daily makeup is the larger square section that fits the majority of what I need including my current moisturiser and the less glamorous deodorant. We all use it!

There have been two lip products that I always use on a daily basis. In the mornings I use the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Lovers Coral right, which is beautifully creamy sheer pink coral. As the day progresses I've been using the Bobbi Brown Creamy Lip Colour in Coral Pink leftCan you see a trend? This packs a lot more colour and perks me up towards the end of the day. Perfect for last minute dinner plans!

The second draw is home to my foundations, concealers, bronzers, blushes, primers, powders and highlighters. Or the face draw as I like to call it. The space isn't perfect but it's been a great help to be able to open and grab something quickly. The Becca Luminous Skin Colour is an ultra-sheer foundation that constantly gets overlooked in my collection. When they say sheer, they mean it. So of course I've only worn it on the very few occasions that I have 'perfect-ish' skin, but hopefully towards the warmer months I'll get a lot more use out of this. It's very thin and light, with just a hint of colour to even out your skin tone.

The third draw, and the first of the deep draws is home to the odds. The palettes, kits, nail basics, perfumes and other tools. The NARS Guy Bourdin Crime of Passion palette is my most reached for palette when I'm on the move. It has eyeshadow, blush, bronzer and a mini lipgloss to get you through any trip. Another favourite is my MAC Eyeshadow quad, this is what I reach for when I'm feeling brave. It has Vanilla, Idol Eyes, Cranberry and Dark Horse which are perfect for creating a gunge esque smokey eye.

My nails have been terrible recently, thin, dry and flakey. So I've been using the Essie Apricot Cuticle Oil and OPI's Nail Envy every day to try and bring them back to life. It's been a couple of weeks of on and off use so the results are only now starting to show, but hopefully with a strict routine they will be looking beautiful in no time!

The final draw is by far my favourite, the nail polish draw. I store all my SensatioNail kits in the back along with buffers and separators etc. I then organise my polishes by brand and formula. From Barry M to Ciate, miniatures from gift sets and nail art extras I love each and every part of it. I can only describe the feeling as being like a child in a sweet shop, don't get me wrong this is a love affair that's been building for years. I've always been a polish kind of person and I doubt that will ever change.

My favourites at the moment are Chanel Holiday, Rimmel Salon Pro Isn't She Precious, Essie Watermelon and my current obsession Revlon Fearless. The peachy pink coral trend continues. Oh wow, I am seriously obsessed. Just thinking about it I need a fresh paint job.

So there you have it, a little insight into my bedroom. I'm on the look out for some acrylic storage to keep on my bedside table for essentials. I wanted something a little different to Muji, but I might get a two draw unit and line the bottom of each draw with patterned card to jazz it up a bit. I'll keep you posted.

How do you store or organise your makeup? What have you been loving recently?
