Beauty in 2013!

This is the time of year where products really get an ego boost, you have the reigning champions, the one that almost makes it and the underdog that blows everyone away. With that in mind here are my 2013 beauty favourites! There are no surprises here as I talk about these constantly, but in short this is what I love, why I love it and the fact that I think you will love it too. Grab a note pad because your going to want to write this down...
The award for 'Best Base' goes to...
Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua, the crowd goes wild! This has been one of the very few foundations that I have repurchased and will continue to repurchase. No amount of amazing new releases can turn me away from this. It's lightweight, moisturising and buildable. Good skin days love it, alright skin days love it. To be fair bad skin days don't like anything other than a paper bag. It's perfect for summer by itself and winter with a little bit of powder through the t-zone. I think I'm going to wear this today...

The award for 'Best Lashes' goes to...
Maybelline The Volum' Express Mascara Falsies, (the one with the lace around the lid) Ooooooh! This year was tough, the L'Oreal Telescopic Waterproof Mascara has gone, along with my hope and dreams of the perfect lashes. Or so I thought, the formula is a little wet when you first open it, but give it a week to start drying, perfect! If you would like to see results check out my twitter display photo @slightgem It even managed a 'stunning' and a retweet from Maybelline themselves. This is amazing, go go now?!

The award for 'Best Eyes' goes to...
The MAC Quad! Cheating I know... The idea around the MAC quad is what won it over. Sleek compact, interchangeable, lots to choose from, what isn't there to love? Apart from the price. On a serious note I think this quad cost me just over £40, and in no way do I regret it. Would I do it again? Yes. Should you go and do the same thing? Yes.

The award for 'Best Disguise' goes to...
Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer! I have used this every day since February 2013 and I don't think I will stop. Other concealers have started to dry my skin and this is perfect for keeping it smooth and spot free. Or so everyone thinks, [insert evil laugh] Again it's a little pricey but definitely worth it, especially as this little compact comes with a translucent powder to set. Throw this in your handbag with a brush and your good to go!

The award for 'Best Setter' goes to...
Bourjois Java Rice Powder, this is where the magic happens. I have not always been a huge fan of powders or anything matte in general. But winter came and she brought me something. A powder that glows at an affordable price. I swatched all the high end editions and wasn't amazed, but this makes my skin light up and dance! Even just thinking about it I'm really happy. It will make you happy too, honest!

The award for 'Best Lips' goes to...
Dior Addict Lipstick's, all of them! It doesn't matter what mood I'm in Dior has me covered. I have three in my collection, a balm, a natural and a pop of pink. I love each of them as though they were my children, and would happily never put anything else on my lips. Without sounding like a crazy cat lipstick lady, I want to collect them all so that none have to feel unloved. Please support a cause, adopt a beautiful lipstick today!

The award for 'Best Palette' goes to...
Laura Mercier Colour-To-Go Palette in Nude, wolf whistles. This is a truly amazing collection of products. The colours gorgeous, the formula is fantastic, it's compact, it's stylish, it makes people jealous when your topping up on the tube, can't breath... I couldn't recommend this enough, and to test you all I challenge you to swatch each colour next to each other when your next at a counter, and not buy it.

The award for 'Best Formula' goes to...
Illamasqua Reflection Palette, oooh ooh oooh! This is an innovative water resistant eyeshadow that you can swipe onto the lid like a cream, and buff into your socket like a powder, even pack it on like a pigment. As my first purchase from Illamasqua I am impressed. I cannot wait for the next collection so that I can get my hands on a few new shades! Have you felt them? Please go and swatch them, you'll be amazed! There honestly isn't anything like it!

So there we go, my ramblings of things that everyone must purchase. Did you write it all down? Good. It's been a good year beautywise and I'm hoping that 2014 can live up to my expectations.
